As you can see I’ve spruced things up a little and changed the theme again. I’ve also added the Portfolio section which covers everything I’ve done to date.

There are quite a few updates as you can see! Most notably I’m now no longer Reviews Editor with GrE and TPG. I decided that it was for the best so that I can focus on my writing.
Since then, besides being much more relaxed, I’ve written a piece for one of my favourite sites Resolution and been writing a few reviews for a good friend’s site Hi-Score. Most importantly, I feel more in control of my work which is always good! Hoping to write a piece for this blog soon on escapism through gaming, something that has been ably written about by some of my peers here, here and here. The ironic thing is due to the content, I’m escaping from writing about it and waiting till I feel mentally up to it! I can think of two things I’d like to write about, and I’m sure it would be cathartic to do so, but sometimes denial is useful.

Anyway no guarantees, but I’ll try to write here a little more often now that I have more free time although I do seem to be writing at least one full article every day at the moment! Good old busy season. Certainly not complaining, I wouldn’t have been able to play the likes of Uncharted 2 if it hadn’t been for such review opportunities. Uncharted 2 is a bit good by the way, more in the next few days.

Oh and before I forget, I was hoping to attend the Eurogamer Expo next week in London but as my foot is still causing me plenty of problems, this almost certainly won’t be happening now. It’s looking pretty unlikely I’ll be returning to my day job soon too. What fun! Not.

But I quite like busy.

Writing wise, I managed to complete the Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs review. I’ve also completed some more iPhone reviews over at theportablegamer.com.

I’m still working on the Sacred 2 review, there’s just so much to the game, but hopefully I’ll get finished with the piece by early next week. It’s much like reviewing an MMO, you’d ideally need months of play to accurately assess it. I’m also working on another iPhone review, best to assume that I’m always working on an iPhone game of some sort! Finally, I’m now working on a Wiiware game review which is quite exciting. My Wii has been gathering dust a bit of late and I’m always keen to write about something different, so a Wii game seemed ideal. Expect a review soon of Cocoto Platform Jumper, this time for GamesAreEvil.com. Oh and I’m writing a guest piece for The-iBlog too.

So erm yes, quite busy! That’s not even mentioning an article I’ve started writing part for my benefit and part to apply for something. Oh wait, it’s mentioned now. Ooh or the bookkeeping exam I had last week…Not had even time to try out the shiny new Megadrive/Genesis that arrived on Tuesday from my purchase in the previous entry.

At some point soon, hopefully I’ll find the time for another QuickView entry and a few other bits and pieces. It just probably won’t be until early next week once other stuff is out of the way. To keep you entertained for now, enjoy the new photo entries as part of the continuing 52 series.

For fun, I haven’t really settled on much. Often been too tired to play much for fun. I finished off Fallout 3 with a respectable 700/1100. I will 100% it but I’ll wait till all the DLC is out before I get it again, I might rent it instead this time too but we’ll see. It was a good game after the very slow start, not one of my favourites of all time or anything but certainly kept me entertained. As mentioned, I’ve started playing Silent Hill: Homecoming, initial reactions are that it’s definitely creepy (mainly because the world is so odd, as you’d expect from a Silent Hill game) however the combat so far is absolutely shocking. I hope it improves! Talking of creepy games, after owning it for 18 months, I’ve finally started playing Condemned. I played it initially with a friend and liked it but I’m rubbish with scary games so I never quite had the nerve. But as I fancied a game with a strong storyline, I gave this a shot. I’ve finished Chapter 4 now and absolutely loving it. It’s not even aged very badly which is good going for a launch title.

Anyway, not a long update. I’ve not got much to say admittedly and I’m tired. Giving myself a day off tomorrow as I worked all weekend either the paid sort or the writing sort.

Anyway this was intended to be quite a brief entry just to say I’m going to be busy.

I’ve currently got two reviews and one article to write. As well as this I’m working most of this weekend, which financially is good, but otherwise a bit crap :p Most annoyingly this means I’ve missed out on featuring on Big Red Potion, Shoinan‘s Podcast which is rather excellent. Get downloading it if you haven’t already
Hopefully I’ll be able to feature at a later date when work hasn’t given me quite so many hours!

Anyway, need to sort out some dinner before work shortly. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to post up my weekly photo….erm once i’ve decided what it is!
