I had this recently, I kept reliving watching my daughter pass away in hospital, so I can relate. I didn't really find a solution it just kind of disappeared, one thing I did find helpful was facing the issue. I put a photo of my daughter next to my bed (still there) and just stared at it and though of everything before I fell asleep. The dreams/nightmares stopped after that.

Dreams and nightmares are obviously your subconscious dealing with things that are "on your mind" so if you can deal with them during the day, they should stop at night.

Hope you get through it though.

Hugs.

Can't offer much beside huge, huge hugs. Suffered with nightmares and sleep troubles for years... it's absolutely miserable. Hope last night's good sleep heralds the first of many for you.
