Tanking = standing in front of the enemy and absorbing all the damage and keeping the enemy interested in you, so  that the weaker classes don&#039;t get hurt (i.e. the wimpy mages)

DPS = damage per second is the literal meaning but people tend to refer to DPS classes which are classes that inflict lots of damage quickly, such as rogues and hunters.</description>
