Blog a Day 228of365: Favourite Classic Film

Returning to 30 days of film based bloggery I come to favourite classic movie which is a tricky one. Tricky because I’ve already written about Arsenic and Old Lace and Breakfast at Tiffany’s which are my favourite classic films. I do however also love Singin’ in the Rain so I’ll write about that instead.

I don’t generally like musicals. I don’t like the whole ‘bursting into song randomly’ side of them. However I do greatly enjoy three musicals, namely Moulin Rouge, Mamma Mia (sorry) and Singin’ in the Rain.

It’s a great film. Rightfully deserving of its many accolades.

The songs are spot on with a particular love for Make them Laugh as well as Singin’ in the Rain of course. It’s cheerful and positive. Most of all it encourages viewers that they really can make it and everything will be ok in the end. Obviously this isn’t entirely true in life but it’s a lovely sentiment.

It’s also a film that I watched countless times as a kid with the music forever flowing in the house. Happy times. 🙂

Yes a short entry today. Busy times and off to work shortly!

My favourite classic film is probably North by Northwest, the most fun chase-thriller type flick that makes these Enemy of the State, Eagle Eye whatnot seem like a load of fast-action, complete blur, no time to stop and contemplate headaches.

Sorry to get all old man on you there.

I especially like how Cary Grant’s dashing sidekick, as he ruffles through hotel rooms, isn’t some buxom babe, but actually his mum!

Anyhoo, that’s me. Keep up the great work Jen, and good on you for getting so far into one a day!

I’ve seen it live and it’s pretty good! Not my favourite musical though, that lies with Grease or West Side Story.
